Voice Over IP

By using the available bandwidth on a data line to carry phone calls as well, we can eliminate the need for two separate data and voice networks. This is referred to as Internet Telephony.

By using a global standard called Internet Protocol (IP) it is now possible to exchange not only data but now voice on one network. This is referred to as Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

Benefits of VoIP/Internet Telephony

Using one network instead of two — reducing line rental, servicing and inconvenience.

Lower call costs. Long distance call costs are reduced as calls bypass the PSTN.

Inter and intra-site call costs are reduced or eliminated by using the existing corporate network.

In most companies two separate communication infrastructures exist side by side. On the one side, you have the PC network for data communication and, on the other, you have a telephone system with an internal telephone network for voice communication. Just one network in the company for voice and data.
